Black Pearl granite was selected for Stone Services’ Cornerstone Granite Series because of a recent resurgence in demand. For quite some time the black countertop has been viewed as “dating” a kitchen or a bathroom space. As black lacquer was frequently used in the late 80s and early 90s, black granite colors have been thought to evoke memories of that oooh so icky disco tech home décor trend… BLEH! Well, if the exception proves the rule (to be inaccurate), see the inspiration board above!
In this concept board we have paired Black Pearl, one of the deeper black granite colors, with a vibrant green accent and some soothing warm-gray neutrals. The neutral wall color, the neutral millwork finish and the deep black granite color serve as grounding elements within the space while the vibrant green and the splash of fuchsia really make it hop.
We chose a figured gray flooring from one of our strategic partners to really set this board apart. The grain in the floor adds a lot of detail to the space without being obnoxiously heavy (or linear). The backsplash tile (not in stock – but can be ordered) brings a whole lotta zing to the space, too. It’s a carrera marble tile with opalescent circles carved in the center of each arabesque… No disco tech throw back there.
