Sloppy Caulking at Drywall
Our installers are trained to carefully apply a clear, paintable silicone caulk along the line where the wall and the edge of your backsplash meet. Though it is practically invisible, if you find it displeasing a single coat of paint will hide the silicone permanently.
Poorly Laminated Edges
Our fabricators perform all edge laminations in a controlled environment in our shop. We apply only the highest quality adhesives and allow ample time for curing. We are so confident in our level of craftsmanship that we offer a LIFETIME warranty on all of our work – including the all edge lamination.
Low Quality Adhesives Leaching into Stone
Lesser quality adhesives contain higher levels of acid. Prolonged exposure to an acidic substance will cause natural stone to darken and blur. This process is commonly referred to as leaching. When it occurs organically, leaching is not all that noticeable. However, as adhesives are applied along the straight line of a joint or seam, leaching from an acidic adhesive will only serve to highlight said seam. At Stone Services, we use only high quality, non-acidic adhesive compounds.
Measurement Miscalculations
Stone Services has invested a great deal of time and money researching and implementing the best measuring and templating techniques. We use a patented laser based measuring system which is operated by highly trained personnel. Once a project has been measured, a digital file is sent directly to our CAD department. The CAD department creates a 2D mock up of the client's project by applying the field measurements directly to and image of the client's slab. Once the mock up has been approved the digital file is transmitted electronically to our computerized water jet. Discontinuing the use of hand drafted documents and hand-cut Mylar templates have nearly eliminated the occurrence of mis-measures for Stone Services.
Poorly Matched Veining and Poorly colored Adhesive
Not only does Stone Services visually inspect each slab-to-slab abutment for vein matching, but we also process the backsplash in a manner which usually ensures veining to run continuously through from surface to splash.

The fact of the matter is: nothing is perfect. Walls are never plum. Floors are never level and wooden cabinets may warp or buckle. To make matters worse, large precisely cut pieces of rock are not extraordinarily forgiving. To work around a site's imperfect conditions and within the limitations of such merciless material requires a great deal of skill and understanding. In addition to their decades of experience in the stone industry, our installation crews boast a combined total exceeding 100 years of general construction and/or finished carpentry experience. Over time, they have cultivated their ability to expertly level sloping conditions and maintain consistent overhangs without the use of large, obvious mechanisms. They take a great deal of pride in their ability to leave the homeowner with an expertly crafted and well finished product.

Decades of Construction and commercial project management experience enable the Stone Services management team to have the best understanding of these challenges.
